Pre-Concert Chat at 6:00 pm
Pianist, organist, and harpsichordist Rashaan Allwood burst on to the Canadian scene in 2014 when he earned 100% on his ARCT (Royal Conservatory) exam. Since then, he has grown into an eclectic and daringly original artistic explorer championing a new generation of Canadian musicians. Rashaan’s interactive performance explores adaptations of birdsongs in piano music focusing on two major piano works of Olivier Messiaen: Petites Esquisses d’Oiseaux (complete) and Catalogue d’Oiseaux pour piano
(1er Livre). The evening includes a pre-concert chat and projections of photos, video and the artwork of Toronto-based illustrator Avery Kua during the performance.
Tickets $38, $36 ,$32, $15, $5
Rashaan offers a behind the scenes look into the process of the transformation of bird
songs into classical music, film and art, and live music.
