Westben Concerts at The Barn announces 2018 lineup

Unique Musical Experiences in a Natural Setting. 

- Westben announces an incredible artist lineup for its 19th summer season (June 9 - August 5, 2017).   The Colours of Westben.

The Westben Festival, an “umissable cultural getaway” (Toronto Life) focuses its Summer Season on Canada’s dreams in all their varied and glorious colours. “I love Canada. We live in a beautiful country, full of friendliness and diversity. I am proud that we are welcoming and interested in one another’s stories. And as the perfect reflection of that, I marvel at the incredible beauty that imbues this part of the world, from sea to sea to sea, with a dazzlingly unique specialness.  To me, it sounds like Westben!” - Brian Finley, Artistic Director of Westben.

Westben offers up a multi-genre festival program once again, capturing performances of classical, jazz, folk, broadway, fiddle and fun including theInternational Baroque Orchestra Tafelmusik, Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir, Michael Kaeshammer, Colin Mochrie, Sarah Harmer, The StepCrew, John McDermott, Turbo Street Funk, Danel String Quartet with Marc-Andre Hamelin, and others. The season opens with the musical Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour DreamCoat June 9 and wraps up for the summer in August with the Jazz Fringe Festival.

Howard's Got the Blues

Friday, February 2nd, at the Clock Tower Cultural Centre, 12 noon

Almost every genre of popular music today (jazz, rhythm & blues, gospel, country and rock ‘n’ roll) has, in one way or another, been influenced by blues music.  With the assistance of guitarist Michael Monis, local jazz bassist Howard Baer will break down various blues formats and explore how jazz performers over the past century have integrated the blues into their work.
