My name is Ken Tizzard and I write songs. I have been writing songs, making records and touring throughout my life with bands you may know such as The Watchmen, Thornley, and various solo endeavours including Ken Tizzard and the Variety Show Players and Ken Tizzard with Bad Intent.
This last year I dedicated myself to writing a new solo record based on songs containing characters and stories which together align to make a larger piece of work which I have tentatively titled, "No Dark No Light." While writing this record, I visited memories bad and good; faced demons head on and visited with old friends. At times the self-destructive nature of this exposure was telling at other times the overwhelming sense of hope and comfort ran true. What I have come through this experience with is a better understanding of who I am and a new focus on my music - and 12 new songs I really want to record the way I hear them in my head.
Recently I have been exploring different musical arrangements with this new music. Steeped in roots and classic country storytellers this new record deserves a fresh skin - covered in acoustic instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, strings, horns, etc.) transparent vocals, engaging lyrics and memorable melodies. I intend on recording at SlyFi Chapel (a church in Trenton, Ontario) with Brent Bodrug behind the console and include a host of great musicians that I currently share stages with and have worked with in the past.
