FACE THE MUSIC - Opera Chats

 

"Live at the Met" in Campbellford

Open to musical buffs of all ages, we are starting a series of informal musical Chats at the Clock Tower in Campbellford.  To initiate the ongoing series of Face the Music, we look at the world of opera. Westben welcomes Tim McGee, Professor Emeritus from U of T’s Faculty of Music who will lead three sessions in advance of Live at the Met movie theatre broadcasts.  Each two-hour session will focus on one of three Metropolitan Opera productions on the evening before their live-to-air broadcast to movie theatres across North America.  This is a great way to “face the music”, whether or not you decide to go to the movie!  Tickets to Face the Music are $10 (plus tax), or all three for $25.  Call the Westben Box Office for tickets and information.

Today my Mom and I attended the Pops concert with Orchestra London.  We were both captivated by your truly beautiful voice and presence on stage.  Your introductory words to a number of your songs added so much to our understanding of the music that followed. I hope that you could hear the sigh from the audience as you appeared each time in a new gown. The repertoire chosen was delightful! One would have thought that you had had many more hours of time together in rehearsal.  There was a warmth, charm and musical beauty to the magical moments this afternoon. I hoped that you were going to return for an encore at the conclusion of the concert.

Thank you for creating a magical afternoon for my Mom and me on this rainy Sunday.  You’ve created a wonderful memory for each of us.

Hi,

I was not able to attend it because of busy schedule in maintaining my first e-commerce website which is Guitar Shop. I really loved to attend an opera concerts because of the combination of sounds of the music instruments used. It is usually what I looking for. Hope they will have more concert and hope I could attend.
